The Most Fun Ways To Kill Quarantine Boredom Online

For many of us, all this extra time at home during quarantine has proved somewhat challenging. There we were, thinking that there is never enough time in the day to check our social and binge enough Netflix. Still, when the Pandemic struck, we found ourselves twiddling our thumbs and finding any excuse to head to the local store to pick up groceries (in a safe, socially distanced way, of course).

However, after a few days of this, I realized that I had the whole world at my fingertips, albeit the virtual one and one that I can share with you. To that end, check out the best quarantine boredom busters I have come across, and that will hopefully make your self-imposed (or otherwise) isolation a little easier to bear.

Stimulate some endorphins

First on the list is to stimulate some endorphins, you know those happy hormones. There are plenty of ways to do this online, but probably the most wholesome include video calling your family to make sure aunty Mabel has enough supplies and doing a workout.

The good news is that there are so many free workouts of all flavors and types online that you couldn’t possibly complete everything, even if the lockdown went on forever (Heaven forbid!).

The best source of free workouts is probably the wonderful Youtube, where you will find everything from gentle yoga to some pretty hardcore HIIT tutorials, as well as everything in-between.

Game with friends

Another excellent method of whiling away the quarantine hours is to sit down to some serious video gaming. The great thing about this option is that it no longer needs to be a solitary activity. In fact, with services like Discord, you can get together with a group of friends while you play, or find folks of a like mind with which to play.

Of course, the game you choose is totally up to you, with Fortnight being a popular choice for teens, and COD still having massive following online.

You can even change things up a bit and use services like Discord to play TRPGs like Dungeons and Dragons and Call of Cthulhu as well. Games that will provide a more advanced intellectual challenge and offer lots of opportunities to interact and adventure with your teammates, even if you are, in reality, stuck indoors at home.

Take a chance

There are plenty of risks associated with being online, not all of them good! Of course, here I am suggesting taking a fun chance rather than publishing your credit card details and home address on your Facebook page. (Which for anyone wondering, is just about the stupidest thing you can do!)

Instead, if you need a thrill, why not play a few games in an online casino like Blackjack or Roulette. Some folks even have systems for maximizing winning, which means you can boost your chances of coming out on top.

Another online risk that you may want to embrace in these times of quarantine boredom is investing, which can be done over the short or long term. Many people prefer the short-term option, which is primarily associated with penny stocks. You can even trade from your computer or an app on your phone now, making it a super easy activity to do from home.

However, it is essential to remember that your luck can go either way with both online gaming and trading. Which means you may end up with less money than you began.

Read a book

Many people have used the extra time at home in quarantine to read more. Not something traditionally associated with the online world. However, if you don’t fancy reading alone, why not head over to r/readwithme, where you can live stream yourself reading aloud to others or listen along if you prefer.

Alternatively, if you want to be the one read to rather than reading, why not invest in an audiobook app. Many of which have professional dramatizations of classics and the latest releases on offer.

Finally, if you are an adviser to paying out for audiobooks, then finding your next favorite podcast is a good approach. After all, depending on what you pick, you can learn about all sorts of diverse topics from history, true crime, and science. You’ll find that there are plenty of places online where you can chat about what you have learned as well, making this one of the best ways of beating boredom and making sure you still have at least some social interaction—albeit online.
